adjective + infinitive glad to find you at home
We can use infinitives (with to) after adjectives to say why we feel afraid, glad, happy, pleased,
sad, surprised, unhappy etc.
Mum will be glad to find you at home. I'm pleased to meet you.
^ Put in suitable adjectives or infinitives.
► John was to get home after a long day at work, {sorry, afraid, happy)

6 When I got home, I was surprised...................... a policeman in the kitchen, {get, leave, find)
7 I was n o t........................to hear that I had failed my exam. (surprised, sorry, sad)

We can use infinitives (with to) after adjectives to say what we think of things that people do. We do
this with adjectives like clever, crazy, right, silly, stupid and wrong.
You're crazy to think you can get there in an hour. You were clever to bring an umbrella.
